About John
Born and raised in Fort Worth, TX, John grew up around music. At age 7, he took piano lessons from his grandmother, and soon thereafter his musical curiosity led him to picking up other instruments and singing in the church choir. John received his first guitar at age 10, and wrote (and recorded) his first song at age 12.
John attributes most of his early musical influences to his dad, whose collection of cassettes from the likes of Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Santana, The Cars, ELO, and more inspired the young rocker. As he grew into his teen years, he discovered more folksy artists, spanning from Bob Dylan to Bon Iver and even Ryan Bingham.
Since those early days, John has come to focus on refining his songwriting, honing the live performance, and perfecting instrumentation. He writes songs about life, love, and extraordinary folks.

Projects
John Wright Solo
Americana, country, folk, pop
John's solo act is anything but just a guy playing guitar. He creates the mood wherever he finds himself performing, by telling stories and building setlists that perfectly fit the setting. He employs live loops and a full board of FX pedals to texturize his music.
John and Craig Duo
Texas country, acoustic rock
John and fellow Dallas musician Craig Fasken began playing together after realizing a shared passion for Texas country music. After a few idea sessions fueled by Lone Star beer, the duo was formed. The two musicians bring a ton of fun energy to any stage they come across.
J. Wright and The Righteous Company
Alt/blues/funk rock jam band
John's pet project, The Righteous Company (Formerly The Wrong Way Riders), are all-out jammers. A hand-selected group of some of the best improvisational musicians in DFW, The Righteous Company brings the heat by combining tried and true rock classics with extended, mind-bending jam sections. No two shows are the same.
The Shags
Hard rock, country
A true to form bar cover band, The Shags are a force to be reckoned with. From beefed up country hits to hard rock classics and throwback sing-alongs, its impossible not to pump a fist along to The Shags' repertoire.
